Qwest’s Programs for Minnesota Customers

Qwest Special Customer Premises Equipment Loan Program

In Minnesota, Qwest offers interest-free loans to residential customers who need special telecommunications equipment to accommodate a disability. Qwest’s Special Customer Premises Equipment Loan program will loan up to $1,600 that customers with disabilities can apply toward the purchase of TTY machines, cell phones that will be used with portable TTY machines, Wintel pagers and other specialized equipment.

Individuals can also apply loans toward the purchase of personal computers if they do not have TTY machines today and are planning to use their computer as their chief way of making calls. To qualify for the loan, the computer must have TTY software to contact fire, police and other emergency services via relay operator services.

Qwest Specialized Equipment Lease/Purchase Program

Qwest offers the following special customer premises equipment for sale or lease to Minnesota customers:

  • Teletype (TTY) telecommunications devices.
  • Volume control appliances for corded phones.
  • Headsets for hands-free communication.
  • Volume control handset for corded phones.

When the application is approved, you will receive a contract and the equipment. The leasing fee will appear on your monthly Qwest local service bill.

Note: Should you decide to end your lease and return your equipment, Qwest will assess a one-time charge for the purchase price of the leased equipment. We will then credit this charge when we receive your returned equipment.

Calls about repair of the special equipment leased or purchased from Qwest should be referred to Qwest's Center for Customers with Disabilities.
