Virtual Private Network (VPN)

What is a Virtual Private Network (VPN)?
A virtual private network (VPN) is a secure (private) connection between multiple computers over a shared network infrastructure.

The most common use of a VPN is for employees of a company to log in to their employer's network remotely from another location, such as from their home.
Data security typically is provided through the use of data encryption/decryption algorithms performed at a secure and trusted location in the network path, either at a customer site or at the edge of the core network.
A VPN can be deployed between sites within an enterprise, between enterprises and between remote users and one or more enterprises.
Companies utilizing VPNs for their remote workers may require a static IP address.
A VPN is ideal for businesses wishing to implement multi-node, any-to-any intranets or extranets to extend connectivity to remote offices/users, trusted business allies and suppliers or customers.
Qwest does not block or prohibit protocols that would be used by VPNs.

Does Qwest support VPNs?
No, Qwest does not support VPNs. We will only verify Internet connectivity (wired or wireless). You need to contact your VPN vendor or LAN administrator for help with configuration and support of your VPN.
